Privacy Policy

AthenaCover (“AthenaCover,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an AI tool that generates professional book covers for indie and self-published authors, operated by the AthenaCover team. This policy covers our marketing site at athenacover.com and the app at app.athenacover.com.

We collect:

• Account and profile data. You sign in with Google, and we receive your Google name, email address, and profile photo.
• Book inputs. The details you give us to generate a cover — title, author name, genre, premise or synopsis, and any optional notes.
• Generated covers. The cover images created for you, which we store in your library.
• Usage analytics. How the product is used — pages and features visited, actions taken, device and browser information — so we can understand and improve the experience.
• Payment metadata. When you buy credits, our payment processor handles your card details. We receive metadata about the transaction (such as that a purchase succeeded and which credit pack it was), but we do not see or store your full card number.

We use what we collect to:

• create your account and sign you in;
• generate, store, and let you revisit the covers you make;
• process your purchases and manage your credit balance;
• operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service;
• respond to you when you contact us, and send essential service messages.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your book inputs or generated covers to advertise to you.

To create covers, we send your book inputs to third-party AI providers that run the image and inference models. Those providers process your inputs to generate the images you receive. We choose providers we consider reputable, but their handling of data is governed by their own terms and policies.

We share information only with the service providers that help us run AthenaCover, and only as needed for them to do their job:

• Authentication. Google sign-in (via our auth provider) to log you in.
• AI providers. Third-party AI services that generate cover images from your inputs.
• Payment processing. Dodo Payments, which processes your purchases and handles your card details directly.
• Analytics. PostHog, which we use to understand product usage.
• Hosting and delivery. Cloudflare and similar infrastructure that host the site and deliver content.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or users, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition).

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and to measure how the product is used through PostHog. Analytics help us see which features are useful and where people get stuck. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the service may not work properly without them.

We keep your account information, book inputs, and generated covers for as long as your account is active, so your library stays available to you. We keep transaction records for as long as needed to meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to keep certain records.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise these rights, including requesting deletion of your account and data, by emailing us at sekar@athenacover.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and to limit access to those who need it to run the service.

AthenaCover is not directed to children and is not intended for use by anyone under the age required to consent to data processing in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

We and our service providers may process and store your information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with applicable law.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will make a reasonable effort to let you know.
